It is currently Day | There are 7 Hours remaining | Weather Heavy Fog |

as of late, he'd had an odd stroke of luck, unfortunate circumstances leading to incredibly fortunate outcomes, after all that had happened this past year of craziness, it seemed that things were finally beginning to look up just when zed needed it most.
with that, he had intended to return to where he'd once come from- the camper he'd left somewhere along a trail, hidden by hillside from immediate view. there he'd left precious things, and while leaving some of his things behind with a... now trusted friend, he set out to bring back more things from his secret cache.
leaving the most of his food other than 'quick eats' and other excess materials, he still carried his axe and rifle. it was a horrible time to head out, with how foggy it was, it was almost impossible to see where he was going. zed had a compass, though, and that was all he needed because he just had to travel a certain direction as the crow flies, then he'd be close enough to landmarks to know where he was at.
he carefully treaded across the ice, this time with his black stag in tow, his backpack secured evenly across his horns and resting on the back of his neck. wolfbane hardly minded it, instead loving the new bear-skin 'saddle' wrap that had been made for him that also helped keep him warm. as zed carefully led him while on foot, they eventually reached the edge of the ice unscathed, where zed resumed his spot just behind wolfbane's shoulders, leading the stag by gentle tugs at his horns. he was learning to follow his directions, otherwise he just surveyed the area with his hearing and smell.
they traveled a while, mainly bearing east but heading more southbound, towards the shorter route to the camper. he would also explore the area a bit before he went back, see if he could stumble across anything else- with his luck, there was no telling what would turn up.
wolfbane stopped, lifting his head slightly, causing zed to straighten and look about. he smelled something that worried him, and zed gave a soft rub down his neck.
"ok, boy.. what is it?" he was silent, he heard deep bellows off in the distance, signs of a bear...
"yeah, let's just go around it, hm?" he tugged a bit at one antler, the stag followed with a slightly faster pace, remaining quiet but wary of the predator, with their adjusted path, they came upon a shelter, a half-cylinder in appearance that could only be something along the lines of a garage. despite weathering from abandonment, the place was relatively untouched. zed noticed crows about, flying in a certain direction- a weather change was coming, but it seemed they were planning to stay, landing nearby, pecking at a bit of something on the ground, it seemed like a dead duck of sorts, probably another confused migration.
"huh... that mean clearer weather's comin in?" he muttered to himself as he dismounted from his stag, approaching the shelter. well... it was locked. but not for long, as he started to take his axe into his hand.
