PILGRIM
"Wander the quiet apocalypse to chronicle the passing of an age. This is the poetry of survival."
This mode is only to be used by those who may have signed up just wanting to be part of the community/lurk and read, OOC accounts, Staff accounts and any character who is marked as inactive due to a player being marked absent will be switched to Pilgrim mode. You cannot participate in the roleplay in this mode. Players in this mode are noted by a foxes head.
VOYAGER
"Equal parts hunter and hunted, your struggle to survive will eventually lead to mastering the elements."
This is the most balanced of the modes you can select for roleplaying as and is advised for brand new players. Wolves and other hostile animals are less likely to randomly attack (without of course you get too close), and they certainly will not track you as dedicated as in the harder modes. You're also more likely to find useful loot. Characters in this mode are noted by an owl.
STALKER
"Your demise waits behind every hilltop, shelter, and tree. Only the strong survive."
Denoted by a wolf in a character's profile this mode is more of a challenge. Loot is less likely to be found, and it is more likely to be loot that is stale or more damaged. Equally Hostile animals are more likely to actively track you, and detect you further. Finally carrying meat (especially raw), hostile animals will be attracted by the scent.
INTERLOPER
"You are not part of Mother Nature's plan, and you will bear the full force of her wrath. The true test of Human vs. Nature."
Hostile animals will actively track you down and will detect you from a greater distance. They will be provoked just by your presence. You will also be unable to find some items (like a rifle) and will require to trade them with another player. The world is exceptionally harsh and brutal, and overall this mode is for characters belonging to very experienced players. This mode is denoted by a broken up skull in the players profile.
